![]() "Hey Ken, hear from your girlfriend from Australia yet?" Yohji walked out of the bathroom and into the living room yawning and scratching his arm.
Ken turned around to see Yohji. "Oh, that ugly chick. I broke up with her months ago. I'm with a guy named Brad now. Damn is he hot!."
Yohji cocked an eye at Ken then turned to Aya. "Say Aya, how's Sakura any ways. She was such a cute girl. Not bad for a H.S. youngin'."
Aya looked up from the newspaper and his cup of coffee and looked straight at Yohji. "What concern of her is yours? Besides, I also broke up with her."
"Hey, hey! Don't get so rude now. I was just wondering." Yohji looked at Aya to see him turn around with a dreamy look in his eyes mouth the words "Farfie". "Hey Omi."
Yohji looked over to the door to see Omi walk in still wet from the shower with a large red towel wrapped around him. Omi brushed back his hair and walked over to Yohji.
"What is it Yohji?"
"You know, you haven't had any feelings since Ouka. I'm getting a bit worried. Every guy should have a girl or two shouldn't he?"
"You're the only one who believes that since you're the playboy of our group. Besides, no one said I had to be in love did they?"
"I guess not. But somebody has to keep you from doing that dirty surfing that you do. You really need to stay off that internet. A polygonal girl is no substitute for a real one."
Yohji grabbed a cup of coffee off the table and walked away pushed his hair back. Omi, still in pain from Ouka's death stood alone in the hallway with tears filling his eyes. Omi clenched his fist as hard as he could and bit his lip.
"..it's no good fighting over her. I have to remember she is dead and no matter how much I cared, I can't get her back. I guess the only thing I can do is move on ..."
Omi released his fist and walked off to his room with his towel still wrapped around him. Everywhere he walked he left a trail of water on the floor. He walked until he reached his room and closed the door behind him only to open it again when he heard a large crashing noise arise from outside. Omi opened the door and looked on the floor to see Yohji laying on the floor with his backside covered with water.
"Omi, you little brat! You're gonna pay!"
Yohji jumped up and sprang forward towards Omi sending him crashing to the floor. Omi struggled to push him off as Yohji tried to punch him. Finally, with much trouble, Omi put his foot on Yohji's stomach and pushed him off sending him launching towards the wall.
"Ah, Yohji. It seems I win this bout."
Omi smiled and pulled off his towel. He twisted it then snapped is against Yohji's knee. Ken's jaw dropped at the sight and turned away pulling Aya with him. Omi took his towel and wrapped it around his waist then walked away into his room.
Omi walked to the front of the store and picked up the steel wall that covered the front door of the flower shop. He shielded his eyes with one hand as the light came up from behind the wall. Almost immediately a thousand girls rushed in towards Omi, Aya, Yohji and Ken. All of the girls crowded around them and grabbed at their clothes and arms.
"Aya, you're so cute!"
"Ken, what muscles."
"You're so dreamy Yohji."
"Oh Omi, will you marry me?"
"AYA!"
"KEN!"
"YOHJI!"
"OMI!"
Each of them looked at each other and tried to pull away from the girls. They jerked and swung until they were free. The four of them stood in a corner together. Aya stepped forward and put his hand in front.
"If you're not going to buy anything then leave. We don't have time to deal with your games."
The girls' faces dropped and almost all of them left except for a few who stayed and bought a couple of flowers. Omi walked over to the big basket of white roses. On the floor next to the basket some of the roses were laying on the floor. Omi bent over and started to pick them up
"Hmmm..not bad."
Omi stood up straight and turned behind him to see Nagi staring a him. He looked at him with wide eyes and pink cheeks.
"What was that Nagi?"
"The roses. They're beautiful. Don't you think. Not many things in this world are beautiful like that."
Nagi peered straight into Omi's eyes and smiled a lustful grin. Omi's face turned bright red as he looked back at Nagi. He got an odd feeling in his stomach. A feeling similar to the one he felt with Ouka but different. It was bigger and stronger and felt a whole lot nicer.
"Well, if you like them so much then.."
Omi picked out the biggest, whitest and beautiful lest rose in the basket and handed it to Nagi. Nagi took it with blushing cheeks. Nagi gently stroked his hand as he accepted the rose from Omi. He looked up at Omi and smiled sweetly.
"Thank you, Omi."
Nagi winked at Omi then turned and walked away and outside the door. Omi watched Nagi until he was long out of sight. Omi put his hand over the part of his hand that Nagi touched and smiled brightly. His heart started to fly and his head became light.
Omi's eyes began to fade and turn white. His head became all empty and floating. His limbs lost all their power and started to shake. Before he knew it, he had lost his vision and collapsed to the floor where he floated into darkness until he came to later.
"Omi..Omi...hey you dirty surfer. Wake up."
Omi came to and started to open his eyes when he saw Yohji in front of him. He turned to his sides to see Ken and Aya kneeling beside him. Ken with a large smile on his face and Aya with an expressionless look on his. Yohji placed a wet, cold cloth on his forehead and smiled.
"Thought we'd lost you there Omi. Here's a cold cloth. What happened?"
Omi sat up with the cloth stuck to his head. He looked around to see all the girls crowded around him and staring at him with wide eyes and tears. All of them clenching a tissue or a rose in their hands.
"What happened? Why are you all crowding around me on the floor?"
Ken brought up his hand and rubbed Omi's head until his neat, beautiful hair was now all shabby and messed up.
"Hey, you blacked out and fainted for some reason. When I looked I saw Nagi walking away from you. I thought that he had done something but then I tracked him down and found nothing except a rose on him. Kinda weird. I still don't trust him even though he stepped down from the opposite end."
"Oh. no. Nagi didn't do anything at all. He just commented the flowers and I gave him one and he walked off. Long before I collapsed he was gone. It wasn't him."
Everybody looked at him in confusement except for his three friends. They stood for minutes it seemed without a word so Omi got up and walked inside the house and towards his room.
Omi shut the door behind him and locked it. He took off his cloth and put it on the dresser. He felt an itch on his wrist and put his hand in his sleeve. He pulled it out to find a slip of paper that had been written on and folded. He opened it up to see the writing "Nagi's #423-8644".
"Nagi's number. I wonder why he gave it to me and how?"
Omi thought back to when he could have given it to him. He thought about the whole time they talked in the flower shop. He bent over, he heard Nagi, he turned around, he handed Nagi the flower and...AHA! That was it! When he handed him the rose he must have slipped the number under his sleeve.
He stared at the paper for a while until he finally got up enough guts to go to the phone. He reached forward and picked up the phone with a shaking hand. He slowly put it to his ear and began to dial the number slowly. 4...2...3...8...6...4...he hesitated on the last number.....4! He bit his lip gently waiting for a reply as the phone rang what seemed like minutes.
A minute went by and already Omi was starting to think he had doubts. It constantly ran through his head that maybe Nagi had toyed with him and given him a fake number or one that was out of service. He waited to hear the sound of a hang-up tone, but, nothing. Endlessly he waited until he was about to hang up until he heard someone pick up on the other line.
"Moshi moshi."
Omi realized that voice, it was Nagi. He immediately picked up the phone and put it to his ears.
"Nagi."
"Hai?"
"This is Omi."
"Oh, Omi-kun. I see you got my little message."
"Hai? Umm..Nagi...was there something you wanted to talk to me about?"
Nagi paused for a bit and breathed gently into the receiver. He muttered to himself as Omi sat on the other line wondering what had been going on. Finally Nagi got enough courage to speak.
"Omi, I want you to meet me at the park tonight at 8. Meet me at the large white angel fountain in the center of the cherry trees."
And that was it, Nagi hung up before Omi could say anything. Omi gently put the phone back on the receiver and stared at it for about a minute. Finally, he walked away to his bathroom. Just before he entered, he looked at his clock, it was 6:30. He fainted at 4 and didn't wake up until 30 minutes ago. Time went fast on account since that morning it had been raining heavily until 1 when it let up. They started to clean and opened up at 3:30 to all the anxious girls waiting to get some flowers.
Omi shrugged it off and walked into the bathroom to get ready. He closed the door behind him and took off his clothes to get in a long 45 minute shower to cleanse him free of anything bad. For he knew that this night would be different, something was going to come arise. His life was going to change.
Omi walked slowly towards the fountain where he was to meet Nagi. His semi-baggy khaki pants kept him back a bit and a little less filled with motion. He looked down at his chest which was a plaid blue shirt covered with a khaki colored vest. He raised up his hand and pushed back his hair neatly letting it fall right back down. In his other hand, a white rose with tips dyed black.
He looked in the distance, the white fountain was in sight. Sitting on it was Nagi wearing black slacks and a white button up collar shirt that he let hang out to his hips. He stared at the floor looking rather pensive. As Omi approached him, his heart began to race.
"Nagi-Kun"
Omi walked right up to Nagi and stood inches away from him. Nagi looked up as his face instantly turned pink and flushed. He stood up in front of Omi.
"Omi, you're here."
Omi smiled at him. In return Nagi smiled at him then turned into a mad face.
"You're late Omi."
Omi got a shocked look on his face as he stared at Nagi's mad face. It stayed that way for a couple of seconds until he let it out and smiled a huge grin.
"I'm just kidding Omi. Actually, you're ten minutes early."
Omi smiled at Nagi and sat down right next to where Nagi was sitting. Nagi sat down right next to Omi and put his hands on his knees. He stared down at the floor with blushing cheeks.
"So, what'd you want to tell me Nagi?"
"Well...I...I...uhh...well..."
"Yes? You don't have to be afraid Nagi, it's only me."
"There's no real way I can put it so I'll just show you."
"Huh? Show me?"
Nagi nodded his head then turned it to Omi and looked him straight in the eye. Nagi straightened out his back and turned fully towards Omi. He placed his arms around Omi's shoulders and leaned in forward towards him. His eyes slowly closed and everything seemed like a dream.
"....Nagi..."
Nagi leaned in closer and closer to Omi.
"Omi...I..love..you."
Closer and closer he went until Omi closed his eyes and began to lean in also.
"Nagi....I...also...love....."
Their lips met before Omi could finish what he was saying. They embraced each other passionately. Omi wrapped his arms around Nagi's waist as they went deeper and deeper into their feelings. He held him as tight as he could. Omi had never held anyone at all like that until Nagi. It all seemed like a dream, even when they started to pull apart. They opened their eyes and Omi smiled at Nagi.
"...you....I love you too."
They stared at each other with love in their eyes. Their smiles graced each other as they fell deeper and deeper into love. Nagi wrapped his arms tighter around Omi as he gently kissed his cheek over and over. Nagi looked in the distance past Omi's head and saw a light far off yonder. His eyes widened as the light gradually traveled closer to them.
"Omi, what the hell is that?"
Omi raised his head and looked over towards the distance to see the light. His eyes widened as openly as they could. His jaw dropped as he stared aghast at the light.
"What....what is that? Nagi.."
The two love birds stared at the light coming in the distance. They held each other closer and tighter as the light appeared to them. As they stared more and more, the light they saw got smaller and smaller. The brilliance of the shine got duller and duller and their grips weakened until the light was no longer in sight.
"Good, it's gone. Now, Nagi, where were we?"
"I believe we were kissing my dear Omi."
They leaned closer and closer together and began to kiss again. Their grips on their arms were tighter than ever. Omi wished in his mind that this would never end and that it would stay this perfect forever. But of course pure, innocent, hopefully Omi knew that this would never stay, for he had a growing feeling in his heart that it would not last forever though his love for Nagi would be eternal.
"Omi...Omi...in the distance!"
Omi let go of Nagi and turned back to see a large mutant coming at them with a sword handle. Omi got up and stood towards the monster. He reached into his pocket and pulled out some darts that he carried with him all over the place. Nagi stood up and took defense behind Omi.
"Come on you monster! I'll put a dart through your head!"
The mutant pulled the sword handle forward and automatically, light came generating out of it. He pulled the sword back as he charged towards Nagi and Omi. Omi jumped high into the air and above the mutant. He brought forth one of his darts and sent it flying into the left temple of the mutant.
The mutant spun around and wailed with the dart sticking in his head. He fell to the ground with a loud crash. He lay just feet away from Nagi. Nagi walked forward and looked at the mutant on the floor. Omi jumped down and stood right next to Nagi. He looked down at the monster and began to wonder.
"I wonder, I wonder what that was? It's not human I can tell you that."
Nagi looked at the monster with wide, observing eyes. He looked at the hand of the mutant. Something didn't seem right, the hand, it was...MOVING! His hand swiped forwards and backwards trying to hit them. Alert, they jumped back in arms trying to defend themselves from his hand.
As the mutant began to get up, Omi put his arm in front of Nagi as if to protect him. Nagi put his arms around Omi's waist and sunk his face into his back.
"You demon! You can take me but don't you even think about taking Nagi! Come on and fight me you bastard from hell!"
The monster got up all the way and brought forth his sword once again. Once again the light from the sword generated out as he began to fling it down again. This time though, the sword stopped in midair. Omi looked behind him and saw Nagi with his eyes opened and all red. Nagi had been using his mind to stop the sword.
"Omi, get him now!"
Omi jumped forward and into a nearby tree. He pulled out all of his darts. He counted. 1....2...3...4......6! He had six darts with him. If aimed in the right places, he could eliminate the mutant without any more help. He jumped into the air and readied his darts.
"Demon, DIE!"
He flung the darts forward. All in unison and perfect beauty they floated towards him with a gracefulness. One by one, the sharp edges of the darts planted themselves in to his skull. The mutant fell back onto the floor. Nagi, took the mind spell off the monster assuming that he was dead. Omi fell down right next to the monster. Omi and Nagi looked at each other with joy and instantly, their feet took them to each other.
They welcome each other with their arms. They embraced each other in great compassion. Nagi lifted up his head towards the sky to thank the stars who brought him this new treasure that he would always treasure. What he saw though was no stars shining. The mutant had gotten back up and started to run towards them. The darts now taken out of his head.
Nagi's was filled with terror and no words as it charged back towards them . Finally, he got enough strength to call out. He closed his eyes briefly and swallowed. By the time he opened his eyes it was too late. He looked down to see his white shirt filled with blood and Omi slowly slipping from his grip. He looked behind Omi, he saw the sword stuck in his back and the mutant behind it.
The mutant grabbed the handle of the sword and yanked it out of Omi's spine. As it arose it was glimmering with shiny scarlet blood. Omi fell to Nagi's feet. He stared at Omi as he reached his hand out for Nagi's. He reached his hand out and suddenly, he felt a large sharp pain at the bottom of his back. He was not alert, he wasn't watching him at all. The only thing he saw was Omi until he turned around to see the same sword that had sliced Omi now going through his back and through the other end coming out his stomach.
Nagi conjured up his power in his mind. He didn't need much, just enough to get the sword out and eliminate the mutant. Everything in his sight turned red as his eyes lit up with fire. Almost suddenly, the sword broke into a million pieces and glittered with the light of all the stars in the universe.
The mutant looked at his once glorious sword lying on the floor in chips. Nagi then turned his head towards the head of the mutant and once again, his eyes went from scarlet to an almost purplish-red color. He thought of compact things, he wanted the head of the monster gone. He pushed it harder and harder with his mind until the head of the monster started to compress and blood started to flow out of every crevice of the monster's head until finally, the head exploded and the body lay on the floor motionless and decapitated. Blood flowed across and stained the once bright, green grass.
Nagi dropped his mind power and fell backwards until his finally reached the floor. His eyes once closed, he opened them, and in his sight, Omi. Omi laid on the floor next to him with watery eyes and an expressionless look on his face.
"Nagi...I'm so glad I got to meet you."
"Omi, if we die, promise me, we will meet in the next one."
"Of course. I'll search until I find you. I'll look for you Nagi, even if I have to span over many lives. No matter how many times I may be reborn, I'll look for you."
"Omi...I love you."
"I love you, Nagi."
They struggled as they reached their hands out towards each other. They lay their hands on the grass and ran them forward until the tips of their fingers touched. Omi kept on moving his hand until their hands were fully joined and wrapping each other in the depleting warmth of their skin.
Tears streamed down their face as their eyesight suddenly began to fade into darkness. All they could see was black. All they could hear was their breathing. All they could feel was each other's cold hands. They closed their eyes until finally, they left their bodies.
When they opened their eyes next, they were floating naked in a realm that seemed like it was space, heaven and fantasy all at once. Around them were the stars and planets blanketed by clouds. In the distance, they saw creatures not of this world. They turned to each other and smiled.
Still holding hands, a force started to pull them away from each other in opposite directions. In the distance, they saw their new homes, their new bodies. They held on to each other's hands as they were being pulled apart. Smiles were spread across their faces.
"Nagi, remember, we will find each other someday. Search, search for me."
"We'll find each other no matter what. I'll never forget you. Good-bye!"
Their hands held on to each other until they began to slip apart. The tips of their fingers ran across each other's until finally, they were apart. Still, they had their arms outreached as they were being pulled into their next lives where they could start over.
Their eyes stared at each other as they slowly entered the new world of theirs. They stared on and on at each other still holding hands until they were totally engulfed. Their lovers were no longer in sight. All they saw now was a world under them. One they had never seen before.
Their bodies were now free of scars and looked younger. They had their memory fully in tact. Slowly they descended to where their new bodies were.
The both of them turned their heads in a direction. Nagi to the sunset, Omi to the sunrise. In a distance, even far away, they saw each other, and they gazed at each other with loved as they entered their new lives. But the distance didn't matter to them at all. All that mattered was that they saw each other. And as they closed their eyes and reopened them, they saw new people around them as they emerged from a woman.
But the second before they opened their eyes to their new lives, they both had a shot image of each other in their minds. That was all they had until they could meet again. Until that day comes, they will cherish it like a priceless jewel because that's what their love was. A priceless jewel.
